The title says it all. “As delicate as magnolias but as tough as steel".  Eccentric characters abound in this this perennial favorite about the bond among a group of Louisiana women. Both a comedy and a tearjerker, Steel Magnolias is a hilarious and touching tribute to the strength and resilience of southern women.

This hilarious and touching tribute to Southern women will open on the RECT stage Friday, September 25th at 7:00 and play for two weekends closing on Sunday, October 4th.

The 1950s high school dream is about to explode in this rollicking musical that is both an homage to the idealism of the fifties and a satire of high schoolers’ age-old desire to be rebellious and “cool”. Although they had a secret romance during summer vacation, can greaser Danny maintain his cool dude status and still make demure Sandy his girl now that they are back at school?  Peer-pressure, cliques, and old rivalries make it a bit complicated. The whole gang sings and dances around Danny and Sandy’s romance, through such hit songs as “Summer Lovin”, “Greased Lightnin”, and “Beauty School Dropout”. Recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley, Grease became the soundtrack of a generation.

Managing Director Allan Barlow brings his one-man adaption of this holiday classic to the RECT stage, portraying 24 of Dickens’ most familiar and beloved characters. A perfect way to kick off the holiday season for the entire family!

Being small can be tricky, especially with the family’s grumpy cat Snowbell always ready to pounce, but Stuart is brave, clever, and always ready for an adventure.
